Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas Visits ATAA

İstanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş, the head of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), attended the annual meeting of U.S Conference of Mayors held in Baltimore on Friday, June17, 2011. Upon his return from the Conference, Mayor Topbaş visited the newly renovated ATAA building, which was opened on June 11, 2011 by the Turkish Ambassador Namik Tan.

Following the tour of the building with Past-President Günay Evinch and Trustee Oya Bain, Mayor Topbaş was introduced to ATAA’s staff and briefed about ATAA’s mission and objectives. Mayor Topbaş commended ATAA for its contributions to preserve, promote, and improve Turkish – American relations.

Past President Günay Evinch and Mayor Topbaş exchanged ideas about promoting the city of İstanbul in United States as well as promoting ATAA in İstanbul. Speaking on behalf of President Ergün Kırlıkovalı, Past-President Günay Evinch also mentioned that ATAA is planning a delegation visit to Turkey in the Fall and would like to get together with Mayor Topbaş in İstanbul.

Mayor Topbaş presented an autographed book titled “İstanbul: City of Memories and Hopes” to ATAA along with other informative materials produced and published by İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

 

İstanbul Belediye Başkanı Topbaş ATAA Türk Evini Ziyaret Etti

Birleşmiş Kentler ve Yerel Yönetimler Teşkilatı  (BKYY)  Başkanı sıfatıyla,  Baltimore kentinde düzenlenen Amerikan Belediyeler Birliği toplantısına katılan İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı Kadir Topbaş, toplantı dönüşünde renovasyonu tamamlanan ve geçen Cumartesi Büyükelçi Namık Tan tarafından açılışı yapılan ATAA-Türkevi’ni ziyaret etti. 

ATAA’nın Geçmiş-Başkanı Günay Evinç ve Mütevelli Heyeti üyesi Oya Bain, Belediye Başkanı Kadir Topbaş’a ATAA-Türkevi’ni gezdirdikten sonra, ATAA’nın çalışanlarıyla tanıştırarak yürütülen program ve faaliyetler hakkında bilgilendirdiler. Türk – Amerikan ilişkilerine yaptığı olumlu katkılardan dolayı ATAA’yı tebrik eden Topbaş, daha sonra Günay Evinç ile hem İstanbul’un ABD’de tanıtımı hem de ATAA’nın İstanbul’da tanıtımı üzerine fikir alış-verişinde bulundular. Başkan Ergün Kırlıkovalı’yı temsilen konuşan Günay Evinç, ATAA yönetiminin  sonbaharda Türkiye’ye resmi ziyaretlerde bulunmak için gideceğini ve  bu ziyaretler kapsamında kendileriyle de İstanbul’da biraraya gelmek istediklerini belirtti.

İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından tanıtım amaçlı hazırlanan CD ve broşürlerin yanısıra, Belediye Başkanı Topbaş “İstanbul: City of Memories and Hopes” adlı kitabı da imzalayarak ATAA’ya hediye etti.
