ATAA 2007 BOD Election Results
Dear Members of the ATAA Community:
We recently conducted a Special Election to resolve all lingering disputes from the 2006 Elections. Of particular concern was the position of ATAA President-Elect. Both ATAA internal counsel and independent counsel (compensated without contribution from ATAA general funds) confirm that the second balloting was an appropriate way to remedy any discrepancy revealed during the prior elections.
With the consent of the involved candidates, the Board of Directors empowered a new Nominations Committee, chaired by Dr. Bulent Basol, a former president of the ATAA. Under Dr. Basol's leadership, all candidates were nominated and selected in strict accordance with the ATAA bylaws and procedures. Those candidates that were nominated expressed their voluntary and explicit agreement that the nomination of each was appropriate and that their candidacy met both the spirit and word of the ATAA charter and bylaws.
The Election Process was overseen by the Office of Cagal and Associates, LLC. Gundogan Cagal has been, according to his selection by the Assembly of Delegates, the accountant of the ATAA for the last twenty years, and his office is very familiar with the bylaws and procedures of the ATAA.
The ATAA Board of Directors thanks the candidates and all who participated in this election process. The terms of the newly elected Board Members will begin on publication of this GIS. Now that the elections are behind us, we look forward aggressively pursuing the ATAA's substantive agenda.
