As a part of the ATAA's Community Information Service (CIS), the ATAA Executive Committee has decided to run the ATAA StarTURK program to recognize and commend successful Turkish Americans in the sciences, medicine, arts, business, literature, politics, sports and general vocations. We invite the Turkish American community to participate in this program by writing to assembly@ataa.org regarding successful Turkish Americans in your communities. We are honored to initiate the StarTURK CIS by commending Professor Hasan Şehitoğlu for his Quantum Gravity theory.

A Scientific Breakthrough by a Turkish American Scholar Professor Hasan Şehitoğlu
As the scientific community knows well, the issue of gravity is far from settled. It may be, though, after Professor Hasan Şehitoğlu's invention.
Just how momentous is the Turkish American professor's invention? Think about the timeline Isaac Newton --> Albert Einstein --> Prof. Hasan Şehitoğlu.
Or think about "The Theory of Gravity" finally being explained thoroughly, removing the heretofore unanswered questions and doubts, through solid experimentation and sound mathematical modeling.
Prof. Hasan Şehitoğlu has B.S. degree from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is an expert on matrix-valued dynamic systems and their control and served as an engineering faculty member at several universities including Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge and California State University-Fullerton.
Anomalies Unexplained By The Current Theory of Gravity
Many may be surprised to learn that the current theories of gravity are far from explaining a growing number of astronomical anomalies and problems that neither Newton's theory nor Einstein's General Relativity are able to properly address. We asked Prof. Şehitoğlu to explain to us , without going too technical, what those issues are with General Relativity.
"GR is incompatible with Quantum Mechanics. Einstein's theory cannot 'quantize' the gravitational field. Then GR is unphysical and without a universal law for conservation of energy & momentum. Furthermore, the kind of black holes and gravitational waves predicted by GR have never been observed. Then there has never been a rational treatment of the Solar System as a unit. Rotation curves of spiral galaxies show flat or increasing velocity distribution. Gigantic clusters of galaxies, called Great Walls, show river-like flow patterns. There is more. But on a more practical example everyone can understand, I would like to cite the Pioneer 10 and 11 spacecraft which experience anomalous deceleration. None of these are properly explained by GR."
The Şehitoğlu "Quantum Gravity" theory provides explanations for those anomalies
 The Şehitoğlu theory is compatible with Quantum Mechanics which means that, finally, the gravitational field is "quantized". It starts with the principal of conservation of energy and momentum and uses this principal whenever possible. It is also compatible with the Theory of Special Relativity and is a co variant field theory. It is independent of the coordinate system employed and passes all the experimental tests of gravity.
The Şehitoğlu theory answers and solves many challenging questions and problems. For example, it explains a) the origin of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation and why CMBR is isotropic; b) the motion of the Sun and the planets as a dynamic system of N bodies; c) why the rotation curves of spiral galaxies are flat or rising and the origin of the gravitational red-shift among others.
Currently, Şehitoğlu is busy loading the data on his "Quantum Gravity" to his website.

The inventor dedicates his timeless discovery to Atatürk, the founder of Modern Turkey, and the entire Turkish Nation, as well as the Turkish-Americans community, all of whom came together to make him what he is today.
President Gunay Evinch of ATAA (The Assembly of Turkish American Associations, an non-profit NGO established in Washington DC in 1979 and an umbrella for many Turkish American associations coast to coast) was joyful when he commented:
"We are truly happy and proud of what a member of our community has accomplished in the service of science and humanity. His dedication of his scholarly success of revolutionary implications to the great Atatürk, the visionary founder of modern Turkey, and the resourceful Turkish nation, as well as to the Turkish American community is profound, especially on the 87th anniversary of the establishment of Turkey. This year, we are celebrating our Republic Day (October 29th) with some specially warm feelings, pride, and enthusiasm."
Amerika'da bir Türk profesörün müthiş başarısı
Isaac Newton'un yerçekimi teorisi (Theory of Gravity, 1686) ve Albert Einstein'in izafiyet teorisi (General Relativity, 1905) ile açıklanması mümkün olmayan kavramları, geliştirdiği test metotları ve matematik modellerle açıklamayı başaran Türk bilim adamı Profesör Hasan Şehitoğlu, bu başarısını Atatürk'e ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin 87 inci yıldönümüne adadığını söylüyor.
Ortadoğu Teknik Üniversitesinden makine mühendisi olarak mezun olduktan sonra ve University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign'de yüksek lisans ve doktora yapan Profesör Hasan Şehitoğlu, Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge ve California State University-Fullerton'da ve diğer bazı üniversitelerde mühendislik fakültelerinde uzun yıllar öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmıştır. Şehitoğlu "Matris-Degerli Dinamik Sistemler ve Kontrolu" (matrix-valued dynamic systems and their control) konusunda uzmandır. Buluşunu anlayabileceğimiz bir dille açıklamasını istediğimiz Profesör Şehitoğlu, şöyle konuştu:
"Einstein'in meşhur İzafet Teorisi, Kuantum Mekanik bilimi ile uyumlu değildir. Bu yüzden yerçekimi sahasında miktar belirlemesi yapamaz. Fiziki de değildir. Enerji ve momentumun korunması hakkında her durumda geçerli olabilecek bir yasası da yoktur. Öngördüğü şekil ve bicimde kara delik ve yerçekimi dalgaları gerçek yaşamda hiçbir zaman gözlenememektedir. Güneş sistemini bir ünite olarak açıklayabilen akılcı muamele olamamıştır. ABD nin gönderdiği Pioneer 10 ve 11 uzay araçlarının beklenmedik bir şekilde hız kesmesini de açıklayamıyor. Bunlar gibi daha birçok konuda şüpheler ve sorular hep vardı. Benim geliştirdiğim 'Quantum Gravity' (Kuantum Yerçekimi) teorisi şimdi tüm bu sorulara ve diğerlerine yanıt verebilmektedir."
Isaac Newton (1643 -1727 ) ile başlayan ve Albert Einstein (1879-1955) ile süregelen bilimsel çizgide son durak, en azından bugün için, öyle görünüyor ki, bizim Türk profesörümüz, Hasan Şehitoğlu'dur. şu anda "Kuantum Yerçekimi" ile ilgili bilgileri internet sitesine yüklemekle meşgul olan Profesor Şehitoğlu, teori ve buluşlarının yepyeni bilim ve teknoloji alanlarının doğmasına yol açılabileceğini düşünüyor.
Bir insan ömrüne sığdırılabilecek en büyük buluşlardan biri olan ve insanlık adına atılan bu büyük adımı çok sevdiği Atatürk'e ve onun muhteşem eseri Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'ne, 87 inci yıldönümünde armağan eden Şehitoğlu, tüm Amerika'da yerleşik bulunan yaklaşık yarım milyonluk Türk-Amerikan toplumunun da gururu oldu.
Dernekler Kurulu olarak bilinen sivil toplum örgütü ve Washington DC de 1979 den beri faaliyette bulunan ATAA (Assembly of Turkish American Associations) nın Başkanı Günay Evinch (Övünç) bu konu hakkında şöyle konuştu:
"Bir ATAA üyesinin, bilim ve insanlık adına attığı bu büyük adımı derin bir saygı, gurur ve keyifle izlemekteyim. Büyük Atatürk'ün kurduğu Türkiye Cumhuriyeti, evrensel meyvelerini vermeye devam etmektedir. 87 inci Cumhuriyet Bayramımızı bu yıl gerçekten de çok değişik bir heyecan ve coşku ile kutluyoruz. Profesör Şehitoğlu'nu kutluyor ve kendisine Türk Amerikan toplumu adına teşekkür ediyorum."
