It’s with great sadness that the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) announces the death of its honorary Board of Trustees Member, Tunca Iskir, who passed away on March 11, 2021 at the age of 79 in Istanbul, Turkey.

He was actively involved in the founding years of the Assembly where he helped to establish the ATAA Endowment Fund with ATAA Founder Dr. Ulku Ulgur in 1982 and made major efforts to raise one million dollar in 1988. He served on the ATAA Board of Directors as Treasurer from 1983 to 1987 and later as President from 1987 to 1990. He served as Board of Trustee member for many years and became an honorary member in 2019.

Tunca Iskir is survived by his wife, Meral and his daughter, Ayse Jon.

The ATAA Board of Directors and Board of Trustees express their condolences to the Iskir Family and the Turkish American community.

ATAA will be forever grateful to Iskir for his outstanding leadership, friendship, dedication and service to the Assembly.

He will be greatly missed.
