We are very excited to let you know that the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) is planning to celebrate its 40th anniversary on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Westin Crystal City in Arlington, VA. We hope that you and your members will join us on that day, to show your support for our activities on behalf of Turkish Americans and associations since 1979, in the USA and elsewhere.
On October 5th, we will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s historic landing in Samsun, which marked the beginning of the Turkish Independence War, and eventually, founding of our modern Turkish Republic against the backdrop of a collapsing Ottoman Empire.
Since its inception in 1979 as an umbrella organization, ATAA has played a pivotal role in coordinating and supporting local Turkish American associations, presenting a balanced view of Turkey and Turkish people, keeping alive our Turkish culture and heritage, and enhancing the good relations between Turkey and the USA. As a non-profit organization, ATAA has always relied on your financial support to carry out ATAA’s important and comprehensive mission.
At this historical juncture, we are again asking for your help. We need not only your generous financial support, but also your willingness to join us on October 5th, 2019, to help us chart our course for the next forty years, to continue to serve the interests of Turkish-Americans.
We are grateful to our members and friends for their many years of support that helped to secure ATAA as a robust, independent, productive, and efficient organization. Please, send in your generous donations and mark your calendars for this very important meeting on October 5th the details of which will soon follow.
With warm regards to all friends of Turkey, Turks, and Turkish-Americans,
