September 28, 2020, Virginia – Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) strongly condemns the deadly attack by the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia on Azerbaijani positions along the line of contact and populated areas in the Armenian-occupied Karabakh region of Azerbaijan on September 27.
In this most egregious violation of ceasefire regime, which has been observed since May 1994, the occupying Armenian forces targeted Azerbaijani settlements killing and wounding many civilians including children.
The ATAA calls upon the United Nations Security Council and international community to hold Armenian leaders accountable for these crimes, to demand an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all occupying Armenian forces from Karabakh region, which will allow nearly 1 million Azerbaijani refugees to return back to their homes.
