The Assembly of Turkish-American Associations (ATAA), which represents the interests of over half million Turkish-Americans living in the United States, is deeply concerned with the U.S. Government’s recent political statements as well as the economic sanctions and tariffs it has imposed on the Republic of Turkey.

The model partnership enjoyed by the United States and Turkey has always been based on mutual concerns. Throughout decades, these concerns have included fighting global terrorism and achieving peace in such places as Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, and Somalia.

Currently, the world is experiencing profound changes, rendering the U.S.-Turkey cooperation more vital than ever. The strategically important historic relationship between the two NATO members should not be jeopardized by the unfair and harsh sanctions imposed on Turkey by the U.S. Government.

The ATAA is asking responsible parties to do their utmost to prevent further deterioration of relations between two great allies.
