Today marks the 1st anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt in Turkey, which claimed the lives of 249 and wounded more than 2,000.

The failed attempt by the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) whose affiliates have infiltrated to Turkish society, political system and armed forces to overthrow the current government in Turkey is a blatant attack to the democratic process and a mere intervention against democracy, international law, and human rights.

Assembly of Turkish American Associations stands for democracy based on international principles, norms and standards – the tenets upon which the Turkish nation was founded.

As the preeminent organization representing the Turkish-American community, the Assembly of Turkish American Associations remembers all those who lost their lives in the failed coup, and offers its sympathies to their families, friends, and loved ones.
